Venimus, Vidimus, Vicimus

Here comes the lockdown of our country due to the spread of the COVID virus, and we all got confined to our homes. During that time, I tried hard to build a YouTube channel based on the horror genre. It was focused on narrating horror stories with cinematic-level video quality, but I didn’t have the necessary equipment to execute it perfectly. Within a few months, classes resumed again—but this time, they were online.

Interestingly, I didn’t have a smartphone of my own, but my parents did. So, I used theirs to attend online classes. However, the internet connection wasn’t good, and because of my parents’ jobs and other responsibilities, giving me the phone from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for online classes was difficult. So, they asked me whether I wanted a mobile phone, but I told them I wanted a laptop instead.

Why a laptop? At that time, I had no idea about specifications or technical details. I only knew one thing: if I wanted to create YouTube videos like the ones from the channel Beypore Sulthan, I needed to learn editing skills and use a computer or laptop with software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop. I got these names from the description of his YouTube videos.

So, I started convincing my parents to buy me a laptop. But in my house, there was an old computer that I used to play on years ago—but it wasn’t working anymore. It hadn’t been repaired because my parents believed at the time that giving me access to a computer, digital gadgets, or the internet would distract me completely from my studies.

But now, there was no other option. So, my father called a computer technician to get it repaired. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be fixed. As a result, my father bought a secondhand CPU along with a new monitor, UPS, keyboard, and other essentials. Still, we didn’t have a broadband internet connection at home.

The computer had an Intel Pentium processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB HDD.

At that time, I somehow felt that this low-end computer was going to be the turning point of my story…
