I’m Home | Chapter 12: Rediscovering myself

“The world isn’t perfect. But it’s there for us trying the best it can… That’s what makes it beautiful.” — Roy Mustang, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

I don’t find anyone with the same mindset, but I was okay with that at the time. I started focusing on the classes and studies. Commerce was new to me, and since there were no mandatory subjects from 10th standard, almost everyone didn’t know much about it. So, as you may have predicted, the subjects started from scratch. This allowed me to focus, and eventually, I realized that I do have the capability to learn if I know the basics. Yes, I got the basics right. But if I had chosen science instead, they would have continued with subjects in which I had no basics, and I would still be struggling. Here, the scenario was different. I was very active in class, I could connect stock market concepts with the subjects, and I started answering very quickly. Some teachers personally asked me whether I was going to a tuition class to learn this or not.

After a few days, my class teacher, Veena, started finding people for the Seed Club. I wasn’t interested in joining anything like that, as I wanted to focus on the stock market and other things I was passionate about, and I didn’t want to waste time on anything else. But I was already in the Nallapaadam Club until 10th standard. When the teacher asked me about my previous experience, I told her about it. She mentioned that only interested people should join, but somehow she asked me to join in person. And, as you know, yes, I agreed to join.

The difference here was that the teachers knew their subjects, something I found lacking in my previous classes. In computer science class before, I would just watch the board because I did not understand anything. But here, things were different. I could understand the material. When the textbook arrived, I noticed there was computer programming in Computer Applications, and I started to panic. But I understood that topic too, as it was easy for me thanks to the teacher’s explanation.

When the exams came, I became the topper of the class. I scored full marks in almost all subjects, and in one or two subjects, I lost just 1 to 3 marks. After years, I finally got full marks not just in one subject, but in multiple subjects. I started growing my confidence as it increased step by step with my consecutive achievements. Yes, I regained my self-confidence, which had been destroyed by people in my past.

Meanwhile, something was happening in the Seed Club.
