Not Every Dream Is Born in Freedom, Some are born in confinement.
The Lock-down That Unleashed My Dream
The lockdown has hit our country because of the COVID virus, and we all found ourselves stuck at home. But inside my head, something began to move faster, a vision.
“I wanted to create”
During that period, I really put effort to start a YouTube channel. This marked the start of my lockdown dream, a vision that emerged during isolation. I aimed to tell horror stories with top-notch video quality, but I had no enough equipments to execute it, I had only an idea burning inside me. A few months later, classes started up again, but this time, they were held online.
Interestingly, I didn’t own a smartphone, but my parents did. I used theirs to join online classes. Unfortunately, the internet connection was poor, and and their jobs made it difficult to hand me the phone from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for my classes So, they asked me whether I wanted a mobile phone, but I told them I preferred a laptop instead.
Fuelling the Lockdown Dream with a Laptop Plan
Why a Laptop? I didn’t know much about specifications back then. But I knew one thing, if I wanted to make videos like the creator Beypore Sulthan, I would need to learn editing. And for that, I needed tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop.I didn’t even know how to use them, I got these names from the description of his YouTube videos.
So, I began convincing my parents to get me a laptop. However, there was an old computer at home that I used to play on ages ago, but it wasn’t working properly. They never fixed it because my parents thought that letting me use a computer, digital devices, or the internet would totally take me away from my studies. But at that point, they had no other choice.. My father called a technician to repair it. It couldn’t be fixed.
The Turning Point
So, my father bought a second-hand CPU, a new monitor, a UPS, a keyboard, and the other essentials. we still didn’t have a broadband internet connection at home. And about the specs? Intel Pentium processor. 2 GB RAM. 1 TB HDD. Not powerful by any means.
But somehow, deep down, I felt,
This low-end computer was going to change my story…
