Internet And The New Phone | Chapter 5 : Rediscovering Myself

first new phone experience

A New Beginning with a New Phone

Not Every Discovery Feels Like a Breakthrough
Some begin with a simple recharge…and a little curiosity.
And for me, it all started with a new phone.

A New Window Opens

Eventually, my father bought a new phone. which he also recharged with internet. That time I used to recharge BSNL for ₹14, which provided 90MB for 2 days…Sounds strange now, right?

But even that small data pack felt like a portal to a bigger world.

I got the opportunity to try it out, and that’s when my interest in technology really kicked in. Until then, I had mostly played offline games, small ones that didn’t need data. But the first online game I ever played that was connected to the internet was the Clash of Clans.

Around late 2015 or early 2016, some of my friends introduced me to a game called Clash of Clans. It sounded interesting. Strategic. Powerful. So, I downloaded it. It took a while to install, around 70 to 100MB, which felt like a lot back then.

The Unexpected Twist

Once the game was installed on my new phone, I eagerly opened it. But just like I always did with offline games, I turned off the internet, only to be greeted by a “No Internet” pop-up. That screen surprised me. It wasn’t like the games I was used to. So, with very little data left, I deleted it.

A few days later,  when I shared it with my friends, they said that it didn’t take much data…playing for an hour would only use about 1MB. I can’t say for sure if it was exactly 1MB, but that was pretty low back then. So, I decided to give it a go

The graphics and strategic gameplay were super engaging. Playing it on my new phone made the experience even more exciting. It was my first real experience with online gaming, and it opened a new chapter in my journey with technology.

The Story Moves On

Time moved quickly after that.  A new phase was about to begin.
A phase the whole world would feel.

The Second Phase: CORONA.
